SUMMARY:Coffee & Climate: Living Shorelines
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, August 8\, 2025\, we dove into “living shorelines” with coastal geolgist Pete Slovinsky\, from the Maine Geological Survey. Living shorelines are a nature-based approach to protecting our coastline that uses natural materials like plants\, sand\, and rock to protect against the impact of coastal erosion and enhance coastal ecosystems. Unlike traditional “hard” structures like seawalls\, living shorelines are designed to be dynamic and adaptable to changing conditions\, providing habitat for wildlife and improving water quality while also protecting against erosion.
